Why I don't like magic

It's wasteful. Like, a fireball contains enough energy to keep a person warm for a day. Or the ability to heal fractures, lacerations, and burns simultaneously is far less useful than a cast of eternal youth, even though the latter requires healing thousands of times less damage. Generally speaking, any magical ability is only beneficial from a purely evolutionary perspective if it's close to the body, not externally. That's why there are animals that can control lightning, but they're stingrays, not pretentious idiots who waste their energy externally. Real magic, if it exists, is extremely "lunar," meaning its presence isn't demonstrated in any way, and you can only observe its existence in animals' successes. Again, this doesn't mean there will be a lot of it. There's just a lot of evolutionary garbage that changes like fashion. Like, today it's dinosaurs, tomorrow it's furry animals, and all sorts of ignorant bullshit still lurks in the mysterious lunar shadows.
