Scam violence
The important point about violence within civilization is that it's not beneficial to you in principle. Leaving aside dubious cases of self-defense and professionalism, the pattern looks like this:
If you don't like something, civilization suggests and provokes violence. Like, if you don't like migrants, be a tough guy and fight them. And so on. The point is this. If civilization doesn't like something, it will expel, exterminate, or exterminate anyone within a month. Everything else is fine. Or at least convenient. Meaning, it leaves a little for breeding or for solving some specific problems.
But it also dramatically moans and groans at certain instances of violence by private individuals. Why? On the one hand, it needs to support the demon of Legitimacy and convince you that if you use violence to your advantage, it's bad, but when you say "sic 'em," it's good. On the other hand, overreaction creates publicity, and it seems like it could be beneficial.
It can't. Only creating a cloud of fear works, not actual violence. For example, when a pack of dogs runs at me, I run back. Sometimes I might throw a rock at them, but I don't intend to hit them. Basically, I can't win a fight. I'm very weak at hitting and throwing, and if I hit them, it would only anger them. But a readiness for conflict scares them off immensely.
The point is that violence takes you out of the legal realm and makes you the perfect victim. Did he dislike something and start fighting? That's the end. Violence removes you from the realm of discussion, intrigue, and influence, and places you in the category of a loser who needs to be ganged up on and beaten up. A loner who thinks too much of himself and gets beaten up by the whole world is a very popular plot point in movies (and in real life). Or maybe a group of outcasts.
Violence can be useful if there's no anthill or it can't send enough people. Well, the savages can fight back until the civilians send in a hellish amount of troops, so no tactics, terrain, or trophy weapons will help.
In short, violence is a scam. Don't fall for it.
