Severus and James

The difference between a wolf and a lion. Wolves also have a eusocial trait, but their attitude toward their partner is different. If Lilly had been with Severus, the far more worthy Neville would have been the chosen one. A timid nerd, not the lucky athlete that Harry was. Perhaps I've become so psychotic that I see the younger Potter through Snape's eyes, for whom I never particularly liked. But from the very beginning, when Harry bought all the sweets instead of Ron's meager food, then got the best broom, and then his life was a string of victories, where he never lost loved ones or friends, and only in the final war did he lose his mate in the form of a disfigured elf slave and one of the Weasleys. Of course, Harry was lonely, but not lonely like Severus. Harry is a normal person without problems, lots of money, normal background, fame, and friendship. A nobleman who returned from exile caused by Dumbledore's intrigues. Sirius was a kind uncle to him, but they didn't become as close as they could have, just like with the Weasley twins. This is explored in fanfiction, but I'm talking about canon. Longbottom, just as much an orphan, just as weak at the beginning, but incomparably more courageous in the end. Moreover, this storyline, where the brilliant Potions Master Severus gets Lily, and the good botanist Neville becomes the chosen hero, expresses the unrealistic dream of a society where competence leads to success more reliably than birth or dull, normie achievements like sports and fights. Moreover, with greater motivation and a will to live, Severus could have become a great alchemist without languishing in Potions Mastery. In this respect, Dumbledore and Flamel could have played to his advantage. Snape himself is to blame, of course. Having had the opportunity to grow as a specialist and be with his beloved Mudblood, he became a Nazi and lost her. Reminds me of sailors who fled the Puritan nightmare and, having found yet another sex paradise, established the same nightmarish rules there, only slightly taking advantage of the natives. This is roughly how I envision the happy ending of Severus and Lily's story: # "The Alchemist Who Chose the Light" ### *Alternative history: Lily chooses Severus, and Snape becomes Flamel's heir* --- ## PROLOGUE. THE CHOICE Severus Snape was in the basement of his house in Spinner's End when he realized: everything he considered strength was weakness. "Pure blood," "superiority"—empty words used to cover up fear and hatred. He stood before the mirror, holding Lily's letter. > *"If you continue down this path, I will lose you. " > And I don't want to lose you."* He clutched the letter. And made his choice. A week later, he was in Dumbledore's office. "Professor... I want to be taught a different path." "I have been waiting for you, Severus," Dumbledore replied softly. "Your talents must not be wasted on war." Thus began a new life. --- # CHAPTER 1. THE ALCHEMY OF LIGHT Severus proved to be a student unlike any Dumbledore had ever seen. He did not seek power. He sought *understanding*—of the nature of matter, of magic, of the human soul. Flamel, learning of young Snape's talent, invited him to his home in France. "Do you wish to understand the Philosopher's Stone?" the old man asked. "I wish to understand what it *symbolizes*," Severus replied. None of Flamel's students had ever spoken such words. Lily came to visit him every holiday. They spent hours in the lab, discussing elixirs, herbs, formulas, runes. Severus laughed—for the first time, as he had never laughed before. A year later, he proposed marriage. Lily accepted without hesitation. --- # CHAPTER 2. BEYOND THE PROPHECY The fate of the world revolved around Neville Longbottom—the child of prophecy. The Potters, the Longbottoms, the Order—all were at the center of the gathering storm. And the Snape family... was on the periphery. That was their salvation. They lived at Hogwarts. Lily taught Herbology and Potions. Severus assisted Dumbledore in his research. They had a son, Harry—quiet, thoughtful, with Lily's eyes and Severus's mind. He grew up in a world of books, potions, warmth, and love. Severus did everything he could to keep the darkness from touching their home. --- # CHAPTER 3. FLAMEL'S LAST LESSON When Harry was five, Severus received a letter from Flamel. > *"I am old, my friend. > Come—it's time I gave you what I hold."* Severus arrived in France alone. Flamel was already almost translucent. The room smelled of old paper and rosemary. "You're not looking for the stone. You're looking for *the truth*," Flamel said. "Aren't they the same thing?" "The stone is a side effect of the truth." Flamel was convinced: Severus was the one who could take alchemy to a new level without corrupting it with pride. He handed him the book. The book didn't contain instructions for creating the stone. It contained the path. --- # CHAPTER 4. FAMILY ALCHEMY Lily became for Severus what Pernelle was for Flamel—the other half of the formula. The Philosopher's Stone has two principles. Male and female. Sulfur and mercury. Fire and water. Soul and spirit. Severus and Lily discussed, argued, copied runes, and created dozens of versions of the circle together. And one day, ten years later... They found it. The formula for the conjugation of souls. The Philosopher's Stone cannot be created alone. It is created by people who love each other. --- # CHAPTER 5. THE SNAPE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE The night Harry was sleep, Lily and Severus standing in the center of the alchemical circle. Light flowed along the lines of the runes. The vials sang. The air vibrated. When the ritual was finished, a small stone lay on the altar—warm as a heart. Severus picked it up. "We did it..." "We did it together, Severus." They became immortal not because they feared death. But because they had found a way to complete the alchemy of the heart. --- # EPILOGUE. THE FAMILY THAT CONQUERED THE DARKNESS OTHERWISE When Neville Longbottom grew up and defeated Voldemort, Severus and Lily were among those who stood in the shadows—but whose work enabled the Order to triumph. Harry became an alchemist, like his parents. He inherited not suffering, but faith in knowledge and love. Dumbledore told his students: > *"This war was not won only by the brave. > It was also won by those who chose the light long before others needed it."* And in the old Hogwarts tower, beneath its glass dome, stood the Philosopher's Stone—the fruit of Severus and Lily's love. Their family crest is engraved on the pedestal: > "Two hearts. One formula. Eternity."
